Teletalk 3G SIM in BangladeshOnce introduced in Bangladesh, 3G will make mobile telephony much more efficient, with high-speed data transfer facilitating users to watch mobile TV, make video calls and conference, use GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation and access many other services.

Teletalk Managing Director Mujibur Rahman told "We are taking technical preparations to give the service in the capital. We'll give 3G SIMs to the consumers after the preparations are complete. Teletalk planned to sell 300,000- 500,000 3G SIMs in the capital first".

Network will undergo swap on 17th July and 3G testing will be started from 29th July and continued through whole of the August.

Preference goes to Old Users:

Old customers of teletalk will get preference in distribution of 3G  SIM. Customers who use more credit on mobile will be prioritized. These customers will be able to convert their 2G SIM (Current SIM) to 3G by paying additional amount of money.

Other divisional Cities will be covered after Dhaka:

Chittagong is the city of choice which will come under 3G network after the capital. 700 special BTS will be set up for this purpose. BTS set up in Dhaka is already complete.

Other divisional cities will get 3G at the end of 2013. Currently 13,42000 customers use teletalk SIM- Mujibur added.

The recently approved 3G license draft says the spectrum would be auctioned in September this year. Teletalk will have to take the 3G spectrum spending the same amount of money like others even if it does not take part in the auction, it says.

Apart from Bangladesh's private operators Grameenphone, Banglalink, Citycell, Airtel and Robi, foreign companies will also be able to take part in the auction.

The Bangladeshi operators are currently giving 2G services.
