Admission in Undergraduate Program (BSc. Engineering) in Military Institute of Science and Technology will be held on 24 November 2012, Friday.
Timeframe for MIST Admission:
- On-Line Submission of Application Form:: From 01 October to 31 October 2012 (up to 1700 hours Bangladesh time).
- Publication of List of Eligible Candidates to Appear Written Admission Test:: List will be published in MIST website and notice board on 15 November 2012.
- MIST Written Admission Test:: At 1000 hours on 24 November 2012 (Saturday).
- Publication of List of Selected Candidates for Admission:: The list will be notified in the MIST notice board and website by 05 December 2012.
Admission in Engineering Courses:
B.Sc in-
- Civil Engineering (CE)
- Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
- Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering (EECE)
- Mechanical Engineering (ME)
- Aeronautical Engineering (AE) and
- Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. (NAME )
Number of available seats in MIST:
The highest number of seats for 04 (four) years bachelor degree in engineering program is 65 for each of CE, CSE, EECE, ME and AE departments and 30 for NAME. The total number is 355.
In general about 50% seats will be allocated to military officers. However, in case of the requirement of military students vacancy is less in any particular year, the deficient vacancy will be filled up by civil students.
MIST also maintains quota for:
- Children of Military Personnel
- Children of Freedom Fighters
- Tribal Citizen
- Foreign Students
Qualification to Apply
- SSC and HSC Examination (or Equivalent). Science group with GPA 4.00 in a 5-point scale in both the examinations. In HSC/Alim/equivalent examination the applicant must have obtained minimum “A” grade in any two subjects out of four subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & English) and minimum “A-” (A minus) grade in rest two subjects.
- GCE “O” and “A” Levels (or Equivalent). Qualified in minimum five subjects including Pure Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English Language with minimum “B” grade in average in GCE “O” Level and three subjects including Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with minimum “B” grades separately in GCE “A” level.
- Passed HSC/ Equivalent not before 2011.
Eligibility for Written Admission Test.
- Candidates will be short-listed on the basis of total GPA of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and one-third GPA of English earned in HSC/Alim/equivalent examination. Approximately 2500 (Two Thousands Five Hundred) short listed candidates will be allowed for written test.
- All eligible candidates with GCE “O” and “A” Levels (or equivalent) background and all eligible candidates against reserved seats.
Selection Criteria for Admission
- Result of Written Admission Test of 3 hours duration for 200 marks (Maths-80, Physics-60, Chemistry-40 and English-20 from syllabus of HSC examination 2012)-75%.
- Total GPA of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry of HSC/Alim/ “A” level/equivalent examination -15%.
- GPA of SSC/Dakhil examination (without 4th subject)/ “O” level/equivalent - 10%.
