Mechanical Engineering :: 55
Electrical & Electronic Engineering :: 85
Computer Science and Engineering :: 50
Civil Engineering :: 45
Total= 235
Requirement for application in IUT:
- Candidates will have option for admission in 4-year Bachelor Programme in the department of CEE, CSE, EEE & MCE only
- Candidates for the above Programmes must have minimum GPA 4.5 (with optional subject) in both S.S.C.(equivalent) and H.S.C.(equivalent) Examinations
- Candidates who passed 'O'-level and 'A'-level Examinations must have scored minimum grade “B” in each subject (O-level: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English plus one of remaining subjects, A-level: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry)
- Candidates must have passed H.S.C or A-Level (or equivalent) examination either in 2012 or 2011
- Candidates must be Muslim male student.
How to Apply for IUT admission:
- Students from Bangladeshi Boards: Candidates must apply through TeleTalk SMS service from 13 August 2012 to 15 September 2012.
- Students from O-Level and A-Level: Candidates must apply through IUT website from 13 August 2012 to 15 September 2012.
Merit List Criteria
a) Merit List for Admission Test: First 2000 candidates will be selected for Admission Test based on marks (X) obtained in HSC and SSC out of 100. Marks (X) calculated from GPA as per following rule-
X= Selected subjects GPA of HSC * 12 + Selected subjects GPA of SSC * 8
Selected subjects for HSC GPA: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English
Selected subjects for SSC GPA: All Subjects excluding optional subject
In case of tie: Following criteria will be followed to break the tie-
- i. Selected subjects GPA of HSC
Then GP of HSC subjects in the following order :
- ii. Mathematics
- iii. Physics
- iv. Chemistry
- v. English
- vi. Bengali
Then GP of SSC subjects in the following order :
- vii. Mathematics
- viii. Physics
- ix. Chemistry
- x. English
- xi. Bengali
b) Final Merit List: Final merit list will be prepared based on 200 marks with 100 marks from Admission Test (Y) and 100 marks calculated from Selected subjects GPA (X)
In case of tie: Following criteria will be followed to break the tie-
- i. Y (marks obtained in the written test)
Then Marks obtained in individual subjects in the written test:

- iii. Physics
- iv. Chemistry
Then
- v. Selected subjects GPA of HSC
Then GP of HSC subjects:
- vi. Mathematics
- vii. Physics
- viii. Chemistry
Then GP of SSC subjects:
- ix. Mathematics
- x. Physics
- xi. Chemistry
- xii. English
c) For O-Level and A-Level students:
- Grades to be converted to equivalent Bangladeshi grades as shown below.

- Then the same procedure will be applied as described above to be included in the final merit list.
- Selected subjects will be as follows:
- A level: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, plus English grades of O level will be considered.
- O level: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English plus one remaining Subject with best grade
